Kurt Russell and James Spader star in this sci-fi adventure directed by Roland Emmerich. When Egyptologist and linguist Daniel Jackson (Spader) deciphers a series of mysterious hieroglyphs, it leads to the activation of a Stargate which facilitates travel across the universe. Jackson joins Colonel Jack O'Neil (Russell) and his team as they pass through the wormhole and are transported to the planet of Abydos.

There they discover a tribe of humans ruled by the alien Ra (Jaye Davidson) and find themselves in a fight for the future of Earth. The cast also includes Viveca Lindfors, Alexis Cruz and Mili Avital.
